Events in 2017

Astronomy Day, Apr 29

Harper College is hosting Astronomy Day again this year.  There will be demonstrations in the Avante Center and talks at 6, 7 and  8 PM.  If the sky is clear, the Henize Observatory will be open along with telescopes brought by the Northwest Suburban Astronomers.

Join us, rain or, well dark, for an evening of astronomy!

Cosmic Explorers

We will continue the Cosmic Explorers program when we reopen in April, 2017.  Students in grades 3-6 can become a Henize Cosmic Explorer.  See the Cosmic Explorers page for more information.

The goal of Harper Astronomy is to share the wonder of the universe and the excitement of discovery.  By offering free, public viewing sessions at the Harper College Observatory, we bring the universe to you.  Not only can you observe objects near and far, our staff provides interpretation of what is seen.  These events are attended by young children, their parents, and grandparents.  For us, one of the most thrilling sounds is that of a small voice in the dark exclaiming "I see it!"

So drop on by, look through a telescope, and prepare to be awed.
